2015: Jonathan Will Win, But I Don’t See Peace – Primate Ayodele

Founder and General Overseer of Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has said that God has revealed the winner of next month’s presidential election to him.

Speaking exclusively with Sunday Tribune, the cleric, renowned for the accuracy of his prophecies, including the recent election of Ayo Fayose as the governor of Ekiti, revealed this in his prophecies for 2015 on issues that will affect the country and the world at large.

According to Ayodele, “2015 elections will hold but will be peaceful in some areas and not in other areas. As it is, from what I see at the moment, PDP will win, amidst serious criticism”.

Speaking further on popular speculations about the APC sending the ruling PDP packing from Aso Rock, Primate Ayodele stated that, “APC and PDP will share the North; PDP will win a state in the South-West, the East and the South-South but the core North will be a bit difficult for the PDP to win.

However, when Jonathan gets a second term, I don’t see peace; except the president obeys the word of God. I don’t see the APC winning the presidential election.

Even if Buhari wins, he can’t put an end to insurgency, nor can he fight corruption. His will be worse than Jonathan”.

Borno: Boko Haram dislodges soldiers, takes over base in Baga

A resident of Baga town of Kukawa local government area of Borno state, Mohammed Sani has revealed to DAILY POST in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital that the Boko Haram fighters stormed Baga town in over 10 Hilux vehicle on Saturday where they attacked the military base in the area and practically took over the base.

According to Sani, residents of the area including him, who escaped did not look back for anything they would have left behind. ” If you are able to escape, Allah will bring back that which you lost. We are not happy with the way things are turning out to be as everyday, it is one attack here and there without much effort to control it. Now that, the Boko Haram have taken control of the Multinational Joint Task Force base, it is now easy for them to do as they wish in the whole of northern Borno.

“I have families, but I ran and left them. They would find their ways out, I believe. We have been living with the Boko Haram members and we have been telling some of the soldiers we came to be friends with but nothing was done about it. We are fisher men, we pay task to Boko Haram to remain alive and in business; that is why we did not leave when people were leaving the area.” He said.

Also a senior security official who confirmed the incident to journalists in Maiduguri, the state capital, said the attack was one of the fiercest in recent times as soldiers battled to hold their grounds without much success. According to a the official who spoke on condition of anonymity, the attack on the base started at about 5.am on Saturday.

“We got information that Boko Haram insurgents went and dislodged the Multinational Joint Task Force there after a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours,” the official said. “For now, all we can say is that it was a bad outing for the soldiers because the base was practically dislodged, but one cannot say specifically the extent of damage caused on the base and personnel”.

Moves to adopt Jonathan tears Ohanaeze apart

The motion to adopt President Goodluck Jonathan as the consensus candidate of the Igbos for the presidential election failed at the Ime-Obi (inner caucus) meeting of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Saturday. The meeting was held at the organization’s secretariat in Enugu.

According to Punch, the adoption of Jonathan as the consensus candidate of the Igbos was not on the agenda of the meeting, however, midway into the meeting, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, moved the motion, urging Ohanaeze to adopt Jonathan for the election. Iwuanyanwu informed the Ime-Obi that he came with a message from ‘90 per cent of Igbos’ who were supporting Jonathan’s election for a second term. He asked the meeting to give him an answer so that he could report back to those who sent him.

The motion caused an uproar, forcing the President General, Chief Gary Igariwey, to adjourn the meeting, which ended abruptly with a shouting match between those against, and those in support of the failed motion to adopt Jonathan as the consensus candidate.

Following the failure of the motion, Iwuanyanwu walked out of the meeting. Earlier, some members of the Ime-Obi had kicked against an attempt to extend the tenure of the organization’s national executive committee by four years from the statutory two- year tenure in office.

A representative of Ndigbo in Diaspora, Mr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, had told the meeting that the constitution was amended under the previous administration, extending the tenure to four years. Anakwenze alleged that those who were challenging the tenure of the executive were being used to cause trouble in Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

The comment apparently irked a former national chairman of the defunct Justice Party, Ralph Obiorah, who immediately walked out of the meeting. In an encounter with journalists, Obioha maintained that the tenure of the executive had long elapsed, saying it was obvious that some people came to the meeting with a predetermined agenda. A communiqué released after the meeting, however, stated that the tenure of the executive was four years.

The communiqué also explained that the motion for the adoption of a presidential candidate was kept in abeyance, until further notice, as the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo was still consulting.

Atiku, Kwankwaso debunk return move to PDP

Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Atiku Abubakar has dismissed claims made by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that he would return back to the party before the February elections.

It would be recalled that the PDP had on Friday through its National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, at a press conference in Ile-Ife, Osun state, said it was wooing former members of the party, including Atiku and Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso, who defected to the APC to return to the party before the elections.

“The PDP has begun moves to bring back some of our former chieftains who are now in the APC. The PDP reconciliation committee set up by the National Working Committee will meet with all former members for the purpose of bringing them back before the next general elections,” Oladipo said.

But in response to the PDP’s statement, Atiku through the Director General of the Atiku Media Office, Mallam Garba Shehu, has said he has no plans to return to the PDP, adding that the news making the rounds of his alleged plans to return to the party were being peddle by “mischief makers.” “There is no iota of truth in such claims. It is not only false, it is malicious and a product of the futile imaginations of those peddling it,” Shehu said.

Also, Gov. Kwankwaso has described the PDP’s claim of his planned return to the party as baseless. Kwankwaso made this known through his Director of Press and Public Relations, Baba Dantiye. “He (Kwankwaso) is presently APC’s candidate for Kano Central Senatorial District. I think it’s just PDP’s desperation,” Dantiye said.
